Earlier we had a fully automatic Toshiba washing machine with a mechanical timer knob and used it for almost 9 years without any complaints. Later moved to machines with electronic boards and got complaints just after the warranty periods. From my experience washing machines with mechanical timers are the best.

The advantages of washing machines with mechanical knobs over electronic ones are :

Reliability - Known for their durability and longevity.

Durability - Provide a physical click or feel when operated, and is long-lasting.

Simple to repair - Often easier to repair or replace if they malfunction.

Electronic components can be susceptible to damage from power surges or other factors. If your priority is simplicity, reliability, and long-lasting durability, mechanical switches are the better option.

Yes mechanical knobs are more durable and long lasting. But electronic controls have also some good advantages.
Electronic board controls can be programmed with a wider range of wash cycles and settings, catering to different fabric types and cleaning needs.

Introducing washing machines with mechanical timer knobs can address the needs of specific consumer groups who prioritize simplicity, durability, and cost-effectiveness. Here's a detailed discussion on why such models are beneficial and how they could be implemented:

---

Why Mechanical Timer Knobs?

1. Durability:

Mechanical knobs are less prone to malfunctions compared to electronic touch panels, especially in areas with frequent power surges or voltage fluctuations.

2. Simplicity:

Easy for elderly individuals, people unfamiliar with digital interfaces, or those seeking straightforward operation without navigating complex settings.

3. Affordability:

Mechanical systems generally cost less to manufacture and repair, making these models more budget-friendly for consumers.

4. Reliability:

Mechanical timers are not dependent on software, reducing the risk of glitches or malfunctions.

New washing machines could benefit from models featuring mechanical timer knobs, as they provide a tactile, user-friendly experience for those who prefer a more straightforward, analog control system. Mechanical timers offer reliability and simplicity, often requiring less maintenance compared to digital interfaces, and are ideal for people who may not be as comfortable with complex digital settings. These knobs also allow users to easily control washing cycles, reducing reliance on electronic components, which can be vulnerable to malfunctions or software issues, making it a durable and accessible option for all users.
